6/13/02 -- Hey guys!
Summer's upon us and it's time to brush off the dust and update this baby! There're
some new What If images and soon I'll add a ton of watermark-free screenshots from a few
brock-centric episodes.
Return of the RANT--
I was a little bored today, so I went online. Got an email from someone who put a
link to B-o-R on their site and expected a link back, and as I was looking at the other
links, I saw a few anti-pokemon sites and checked them out for the hell of it. Heh, it's
amazing how, despite how some of the sites try to be mature in the way they present their
anti-pokemon views, ultimately they're just a bunch of losers. First off, making a site
(and a poorly-constructed one, by the way) dedicated to something you HATE doesn't make
sense to me because it's such a waste of time. Think what you could've actually
accomplished in the time that it took to make a text webpage with an amateurish
distracting background and large font text with badly doctored pokemon images. Plus, their
only real pleasure is usually their hatemail section of the sites, where they, for some
reason or other, thoroughly enjoy ripping apart emails of poor, angry kids that are
probably half their age. I guess it stems from the human desire to speak one's mind, but
in this case it's just pathetic. Of COURSE you're going to look smarter than a person who
writes "I hate u cuz u hate pokeymon!" but rubbing it in their face with
less-than-stellar comments on your own site is puerile and makes you look like a small,
petty person.
The other thing that cracks me up about some of the anti-pokemon sites is that they
actually think they've had a hand in the downfall of pokemon in general. Sorry to break it
to you, but pokemon, like all other fads/trends, will inevitably end on its own, not
because of small free-hosted sites that get almost 10 hits a week. It's like some
anti-star wars site claiming they were partially responsible for the growing disinterest
in the star wars movies.
In general, I'm just saying that, overall it's not worth it to make a site for a negative
reason, no matter how much it boosts your own ego to make others look stupider or smaller
than you. Put your energies into positive things, post things that benefit others and make
them think, not stuff that will undoubtedly only benefit yourself. I've made such an
effort to keep my site going when many others have disappeared because I know that the
remaining folks that still come here enjoy what I have to offer, and that in turn makes me
happy. ^_^ |
